In the Skilled Migrants Category, points are awarded for qualifications, work experience, age, funds transferable to NZ, if any and a job offer by a NZ employer is required to name a few. Different criteria apply for the Business and Family categories.

Q:Do all my family members need to apply?
Ans: No, usually there is a main applicant, spouse/partner and/or dependent children may be included in the application, conditions apply.

Q:Do I need to be rich to come to NZ?
Ans: No. Although there is a fee required for the assessment of qualifications by the NZQA if needed as well as for lodging the application and costs involved in moving to another country, one does not have to be rich to come to NZ. You do need sufficient funds to support yourself and your family for the first 24 months. Should one wish to apply in one of the Business Categories, one does need capital.

Q:I don't know anyone in NZ, what to do?

Q:Do I need to become a NZ citizen?
Ans:
No. One can apply for NZ citizenship after 3 years. NZ allows multiple citizenship, meaning you can also keep your own nationality if your country's laws allow the same.

Q:How does the school system work?
Ans:
Apart from daycare centers and play centers for toddlers, NZ offers Primary Schools, Intermediate Schools and Colleges for children up to 18 years of age. There are excellent Universities and Polytechnics. Also private schools and boarding schools are available in various levels of education.

Q:Is my current drivers license valid in NZ?
Ans:
From most countries drivers licenses are valid in NZ for a period of 1 year. One has to apply for a NZ drivers license within that period.

Q:Can I take all my belongings?
